How Microsoft supports global actions for climate change

Next month, when countries around the world meet in Morocco for the United Nations meeting on climate change, Microsoft will continue to support global actions to reduce carbon as part of the Paris Agreement. In the past month, countries have achieved three important global policy milestones: controlling aviation emissions, reducing hydrofluorocarbons and accelerating entry into force of the Paris Agreement.

“At Microsoft, we are proud to support these efforts and demonstrate how corporations can contribute to the collective progress on climate change,” writes Michelle Patron, director of Microsoft Sustainability Policy.

Carbon-neutral since 2012, Microsoft is using the power of technology to minimize environmental impact of its products and improve efficiency of its global business operations, writes Patron. Microsoft has invested in research and development to improve energy efficiency, developed strict environmental criteria for its devices and supply chain, and set ambitious clean energy targets for its data centers.
