Daily Update, Nov. 6th – The Master Chief Returns Today in “Halo 4”!

Two big stories for you today – “Halo 4” is here and an announcement from Skype:

The Master Chief is back. Poised to become the biggest entertainment launch of the year so far, “Halo 4” is the first chapter of a brand-new saga in the genre-defining, US$3 billion franchise that has shaped entertainment history and sold a staggering 46 million games worldwide. Below, the Master Chief joins fans by Tower Bridge in London on Nov. 5 for the spectacular flight of the “Halo 4” Glyph to celebrate the blockbuster video game’s launch on Xbox 360.

With the launch of “Halo 4”, fans worldwide will experience the biggest, most detailed “Halo” universe yet. The game features more weapons, more enemies, more detailed animations, and more ways to play with friends.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the hardware the game runs on, the Xbox 360. That was one of the challenges for the engineering team at 343 Industries (the new internal studio at Microsoft, helming the franchise): how to do more, not with less, but with the same hardware that’s been around since 2005. Head on over to the Microsoft News Center to read this Q&A with some of the engineers who helped make the game happen.

Also, we’ve got good news to share from Skype! Skype and Messenger are coming together. Millions of Messenger users will be able to reach their Messenger friends on Skype. By updating to Skype, Messenger users can instant message and video call their Messenger friends.
