Our work on #92 of the TRC Calls to Action includes participation in the FNTC Moving Beyond Inclusion pilot program. As we move from assessment to action, we are looking to fill an external contract role for a Business Program Manager – Indigenous Engagement to develop and implement programs that advance this work. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Engagement, this role will engage across internal business groups to strengthen opportunities for Indigenous worldviews, culture and thought leadership. This includes recruitment, retention, procurement, investment, and partnership with local Indigenous communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strong relationships with internal business and operational leaders in the implementation of an Indigenous relations program.
- Establish employee engagement opportunities on Indigenous history and culture.
- Collaborate with the LEAP Apprenticeship program on hiring a cohort of designers / PMs / software engineers for Vancouver-based product teams and our Global Talent group for full-time roles.
- Initiate, coordinate, and participate in organized events created to recruit Indigenous employees.
- Support teams in creating spaces that engage and retain diverse talent.
- Provide guidance to project teams on ecosystem and social impact partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations, with demonstrated ability to communicate in a respectful manner.
- Experience with educational advising, employment counseling, assessment and case management, career advising and/or placement. Specific knowledge of Indigenous talent and connecting to employment, training and education is considered an asset.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity.
- Experience using discretion of confidential employment matters.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous nations applying cross cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Demonstrated experience in working with internal and external groups using strategic and tactical planning, analysis, critical thinking, and applying innovation in problem solving.
- Experience working with diverse populations, equity groups and marginalized persons.
- Experience contributing to programs and initiatives that support diversity, equity and inclusion would be an asset.
- Experience in constructive conflict management would be an asset.
- Preference will be given to candidates with direct experience working with Indigenous communities as well as significant knowledge of Indigenous cultures, values, and worldviews.
