I’m amazed by the generosity of people during the holiday season.

Earlier this week, I was fortunate to help kick off #GivingTuesday. Along with our partners 92Y and Blackbaud, we rang the Nasdaq opening bell to help generate much needed support for nonprofits.

Founded in 2012 by 92Y, a local nonprofit at the cultural center in New York City, #GivingTuesday has become a global movement. The event follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a dedicated day to kick start charitable giving during the holiday season.

The event is fueled by the power of social media and collaboration, bringing people together all over the world to support causes and generate good in the world. At Microsoft, we’re proud to be a founding partner of #GivingTuesday.

This year, we partnered with Blackbaud to help 92Y set up a command center at their headquarters in the heart of the city. You can read more about the partnership on Microsoft News Center and learn more about our work to empower nonprofits to achieve more.

Microsoft annually donates nearly $1B in software, services, and hardware to more than 120,000 nonprofit organizations around the globe. Nonprofits can learn more about our product donations at www.microsoft.com/nonprofits.

#GivingTuesday is a great reminder that we can all get involved by donating our time, resources and talent to a nonprofit in our community.
