December’s Civic Tech Events in NYC

| Matt Stempeck

Welcome to holiday party season! When you’re not donning your best holiday sweater or spending quality time with your loved ones, we have plenty of civic tech events in NYC to keep the party going. Be sure to join us and to tweet along using @MicrosoftNY!

December 2nd: Giving Tuesday!

December 2nd, 7pm: New York Tech Meetup

December 4th: It’s a little north of the city, but I’ll be speaking at TEDxAlbany on the formulas behind which crises we consider worthy of being news, how attention affects giving, and how we might shape that flow of attention.

December 6th: Black Girls CODE is hosting a day-long Game Jam for girls 12 and up to learn to code games! Sign up to participate or volunteer.

December 8th – 14th: It’s Computer Science Education Week. Get your Hour of Code in or, if you’re a teacher, invite a
Computer Science guest speaker
to speak to your classroom via Skype.

December 16th: Civic Service is hosting a workshop on Designing Resources for Entrepreneurial Public Servants. Stemming from previous discussions from Civic Design Camp, this workshop aims to solve problems in design-thinking for government. Space is limited, so pre-registration is required.

Happy holidays!
