#CSEdWeek: Students Talk CS — Hector Medina, Boston Community Leadership Academy

| Hector Medina, Boston Community Leadership Academy

National Computer Science Education Week is this week and we will be participating in a number of events in the area. We are also proud to feature local computer science students as guest bloggers right here on the Microsoft New England blog. Each of these students are an inspiration, touting their STEM skills and dedication in our local schools.

School: Boston Community Leadership Academy

Grade: 11th

CS Teacher: Nora LaCasse

My favorite part of computer science is having an idea in my head and trying to bring it to life through a computer. This inspired me to take computer science. As soon as I found out that computer science is fun and fulfills my interests, I knew immediately that I wanted to keep doing computer science.

Everything I do is my favorite thing in computer science. Building websites is one of them. Learning new things is another. I love everything about computer science.

I don’t have a computer science mentor. Instead, I have a computer science teacher who teaches me and helps me a lot. Her name is Nora LaCasse.

So far, I haven’t made anything yet that I consider cool because I am still learning. Once I learn enough to make a real website, than it will be time for me to make my ideas come true. It will be something cool then.

As of right now, computer science is my favorite subject in school. The reason why is that it is something I want to do – it doesn’t feel forced. In addition, computer science is fun, unlike other classes.
