We are so excited to share news of the new documentary CodeGirl, which follows Technovation teams during the 2015 season. Made by Lesley Chilcott (producer of An Inconvenient Truth and Waiting for Superman), this film aims to inspire more girls all over the world to pursue their interests in STEM and entrepreneurship.
The movie follows 5,500 high school-aged girls from 60 countries as they compete in the annual Technovation Challenge. The girls have three months to develop an app that attempts to solve a problem in their local community.
We are proud to announce that two of the teams featured in the movie are from Massachusetts: Andover and Winchester. The teams were supported by the Microsoft YouthSpark initiative. The MassTLC Education Foundation, www.masstlced.org, led the effort to engage and guide industry mentors for each Massachusetts team.
The Technovation Challenge teachers girls that code touches every part of the world – and no matter what you want to be when you grow up, code and Computer Science skills can help you get there.
