clip_image002Earlier this spring Microsoft Ireland and our European Operations Center was the proud recipient of the “2012 Green Mover Award” at the 2012 Irish Logistics and Transport Award reception. Microsoft’s Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Information and Services—which supports the fulfillment and processing of Microsoft’s commercial business in EMEA —was recognized for an outstanding achievement in reducing environmental impact. The submission outlined Microsoft’s efforts to reduce emissions and waste across its supply chain, in addition to overall improvement in the sustainability of our operations. Rita O’Sullivan of our office in Dublin was on hand to accept the award.

Microsoft Ireland has a long history of “leading by example.” Just last year, the local Microsoft Green Team was recognized with an “Environmental Action Award” for their efforts to establish aggressive measurement objectives to track their organizations’ environmental progress. As part of their efforts, they achieved ISO4001certification to the global environmental management system and instituted a strict management of cost and carbon reduction programs in transport, waste, packaging and water.

Microsoft is committed to responsible sourcing and expects our suppliers to uphold the standards of corporate citizenship to which we hold ourselves. Our Vendor Code of Conduct requires our suppliers to comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations. We have also invested heavily in a supply chain accountability program and robust independent third-party auditing program to ensure the Microsoft Vendor Code of Conduct and applicable regulations are met.

Congratulations to Rita and the team in Dublin!
