The first public release candidate of SQL Server 2017, Release Candidate 1 (RC1), is now available for download, the Microsoft SQL Server team announced Monday.

This marks a major milestone on the way to the general available of SQL Server 2017. RC1 also brings several feature enhancements, including SQL Server on Linux Active Directory integration, Machine Learning Services capabilities and Transport Layer Security (TLS) to encrypt data.

“This means that development work for the new version of SQL Server is complete along most dimensions to bring the industry-leading performance and security of SQL Server to Windows, Linux and Docker containers,” writes the SQL Server team.
