The winning, Power BI storytelling entry from May explored delayed transfers of care in London boroughs

Microsoft has been pioneering a new, simple and scalable solution to help journalists, bloggers, broadcasters and analysts tap data visualization to tell unique stories. Two centerpieces of this effort are the Microsoft Data Journalism Program and Microsoft Power BI.

This spring, Microsoft challenged storytellers to create reports for the Data Stories Gallery. On Friday, Microsoft announced the May and June grand winners from that content call out, as judged by the Microsoft Data Journalism Team.

Susie Bentley won for a May entry, “Local Authority Performance – Delayed Transfers of Care,” which showed the total number of patients whose transfer of hospital care was delayed in London boroughs. The judges applauded how the report drilled down into national, regional and local insights.

Alex Potter won for a June entry, “Power BI Custom Visuals Explorer,” which the judges said offered a helpful way for Power BI users to find the right custom visual for their project.
