Microsoft named a leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms

Microsoft was named a leader in research in business intelligence and analytics platforms for the 10th consecutive year by research and advisory firm Gartner.

Gartner positioned the company furthest to the right in its 2017 Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms, recognizing Microsoft’s completeness of vision within the ranking’s “Leaders” category. It’s the second year in a row Microsoft received that positioning.

The ranking recognizes products that meet the criteria of a modern business intelligence (BI) and analytics platform, and is one of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant series of market reports conducted for several specific technology industries and updated every one to two years.

“We’re humbled by this recognition for the innovation we’ve delivered with Microsoft Power BI in the past year, including significant growth in both the vision axis and execution axis since the 2016 report,” writes Kamal Hathi, general manager of Microsoft Power BI.

“But more importantly, we’re encouraged by the progress we’ve made as a community in executing against the ambitious goal set when Power BI was made generally available only a short time ago in July 2015: Provide BI to more people than ever before, across all roles and disciplines within organizations.”
