Adafruit founder Limor Fried would like to teach the world to talk to ‘things’

On the Transform blog, Limor “Ladyada” Fried, engineer and founder of Adafruit, discusses her mission of empowering students and professionals with tools to develop their own Internet of Things (IoT) apps. “One of the reasons I started Adafruit was to create the best place online for learning electronics and to make the best designed products for makers of all ages and skill levels,” she says.

She believes that do-it-yourself IoT tools should be available, documented and open-source – and easy to understand, so that users can get started quickly. “Just like DIY electronics, the first 15 minutes are crucial, special and fragile, because we only have a few minutes to capture new users’ attention and build their confidence,” she says.
