This week, Seattle-area tech users had a chance to immerse themselves in some of the hottest new technologies at the grand opening of our new Microsoft Technology Center (MTC) at Lincoln Square in Bellevue. More than 200 people turned out for the Sept. 14 event, where they enjoyed an evening of tech demos while getting to know the many people, services and tools offered by the new center.

The MTC was created to empower people and organizations to achieve more with Microsoft Cloud, software and services, as Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president of the U.S. Enterprise & Partner Group, highlighted when kicking off the event. Product experts and technical architects behind emerging technologies ranging from HoloLens to the Microsoft Digital Crimes Unit were also on hand, giving tours of the brand-new facility and doing demos. Meanwhile, attendees stepped up to the Microsoft Device Bar for hands-on experiences with an array of the latest first and third-party devices including Microsoft Surface Hub.

Phil Sorgen, corporate vice president of the U.S. Enterprise & Partner Group, welcomes more than 100 attendees from the local business community who came to celebrate the grand opening of the Seattle Microsoft Technology Center.

Now at more than 40 locations around the world, MTCs come to life as collaborative environments where customers across a wide array of industries can experience innovative new technologies and gain access to world-class expertise to help them envision, design and deploy solutions that meet their business needs.

The opening of the new Seattle MTC underscores Microsoft’s commitment to driving technology advances that benefit the broader local Seattle-area business community. Commercial and public sector organizations alike can use the MTCs for strategy briefings, architecture design sessions and proof-of-concept support.

Event Highlights

Attendees at the grand opening event got a chance to see demos of some of the most exciting emerging Microsoft technologies:

  • HoloLens. Visitors got a front-row seat to see how HoloLens goes beyond the screen with Seattle-based Taqtile Mobility via its HoloAnatomy for healthcare and the HoloLens PGA Tour demonstrations. In addition, PACCAR was there to talk about how HoloLens has helped them on their digital transformation journey, improving the development and innovation of their trucks.
  • Microsoft Cloud. Keeping customers safe from cyber threats is one of the biggest challenges facing businesses today. The crowd at the opening was the first to see the Digital Crimes Unit (DCU) and also got a glimpse into how the Microsoft Cloud and Big Data help Microsoft’s DCU thwart cybercriminals from stealing intellectual property, compromising email and hacking devices around the world.
