Three young people have started on a month-long journey across the nation to interview leaders in computer science, and to gain exposure and insights into a variety of career paths that incorporate technology, in a trip sponsored by Microsoft YouthSpark and produced by career exploration organization Roadtrip Nation.
Filming of “Code Trip” began this week, with the three students traveling around the country to speak with leaders including Elizabeth Holmes, founder of Theranos, and Hadi Partovi, entrepreneur and cofounder of Code.org.
“Through Roadtrip Nation, these three young people will get exposure to some of the greatest minds in tech and will showcase the potential anyone has to become an innovator and driver of growth and opportunity in their community by learning not only how to use technology, but also how to create technology,” said Yvonne Thomas, YouthSpark director, in a press release. “We are excited for the road-trippers to see the unique career opportunities computer science offers.”
The “Code Trip” series is expected to air in fall 2016 on public television stations across the country. To stay up to date on the journey, follow @RoadtripNation, @MSYouthSpark, and the hashtag #CodeTrip on Twitter.
