Personalize your Windows Phone screens with #TileArt – App of the Week

Feb 4, 2015   |   Athima Chansanchai

Who wants boring home and lock screens when you can personalize them? With the #TileArt app, you can pin favorite images to those screens and share them with anyone you want.

Create a custom tile layout, upload transparent PNG images or access the free #TileArt gallery to really get your creative juices flowing. The gallery provides interesting themes created by brands and artists for free. Each artist has their own landing page with a bio about who they are, a link to their website and of course, their artwork. To further inspire you, the Lumia Conversations blog features an interview with the app’s creator, Ricc Webb, who works for Microsoft.

“The idea behind the app was to make customizing your Lumia as easy as possible,” Webb says. “I think the combination of creating your own tile template, PNG support, lock screen customization and the #TileArt gallery make this a great starting point for anyone who’s interested in creating awesome home screens.”

And now, you can also enter the global #TileArt Talenthouse competition, from which will emerge four of the best animators, illustrators and designers from the Talenthouse community. The winners’ work will be featured in the #TileArt Gallery. The grand prize is a Digital Artist Kit that includes a Lumia 930, a dedicated page in the #TileArt app, a Surface Pro and $1,500. Entries are due Feb. 24, after which there’ll be a round of voting which ends March 27. The winner will be announced March 31.

Install the free #TileArt app, which works on Windows Phone 8.1 and higher, from the Windows Phone Store and read more about it and this competition on the Lumia Conversations blog.
