Hiring? Use Skype to narrow your search

For many job openings, applicants are as likely to hail from the other side of the country (or planet) as across town. The good news is that companies now have access to more talent than ever, but screening all those far-flung candidates can be a challenge.

That’s why many companies now use Skype video calls as a standard step in the early stages of the hiring process. Talking face-to-face with the job seeker via Skype saves time and money. It also can show who is a truly rounded candidate versus who just looks like the right fit on paper.
