Inspired by art: Aimee Kelly’s AI-driven fashion

Aimee Kelly is known for her bold and eye-catching outfits that mix creativity, color, and personality. With a style that’s unapologetically maximalist and mood-boosting, Aimee has built a following by embracing what makes her unique.

Aimee was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, where her background shaped her sense of style. “Growing up in a Caribbean household, you’re just unapologetically loud. It’s the culture. That’s how I approach my style and fashion—being loud—being unapologetically myself,” Aimee explains.

Her mom’s boldness and confidence in her choices shaped how Aimee approaches fashion today. “She loves color, and if she finds something she likes, she buys it in every color possible,” Aimee laughs.

Though Aimee’s journey into creating content wasn’t planned, it quickly took off after she began posting content mid-pandemic, and it didn’t take long for her to realize that her style was connecting with people.

Immersed in Art Basel

To celebrate the convergence of art, fashion, and tech, Microsoft and Art Basel Miami Beach tapped Aimee, an Afro-Latina creator, to attend the world’s leading art fair for a user-first experience in AI. For Aimee, it was the perfect setting to draw inspiration from.

“It felt like peeking into the artists’ minds,” Aimee says, reflecting on her experience. To make the most of her visit, Aimee used the Art Basel Lens, an AI feature within the Art Basel app powered by Microsoft Copilot, to enhance her Art Basel experience. The app allowed her to not only navigate the fair seamlessly but also save her favorite pieces, learn about the artists, and share her discoveries with her followers in real time.

Turning inspiration into outfits

At Art Basel Miami Beach, Aimee was surrounded by an explosion of creativity, color, and vibrant energy, sparking a wave of inspiration to translate what she was experiencing into her own style with the help of Microsoft’s AI companion, Copilot. “I took some of the Miami-inspired colors I saw and asked Copilot, ‘Can you create outfit ideas with these colors that work for New York winter?’” she explains, blending the lively Miami palette with the practicality of staying warm in New York’s colder months.

Aimee’s Art Basel-Inspired Outfits
With the help of Copilot, Aimee was able to create four standout outfits that combined the creative energy of Art Basel Miami Beach with her signature style:

Citrus Frost:

Dark-blue jeans paired with a white turtleneck create a timeless base, while a fuzzy, blue knee-length coat adds both texture and warmth. A long orange scarf and matching orange purse inject bold color, and cream square-toe boots complete the look with a modern touch. This outfit seamlessly combines cozy classics with vibrant pops, offering a fresh winter style that stands out.

Yellow Daydream:

A plaid blue-and-yellow miniskirt paired with a blue-and-white-gingham button-down shirt featuring a white collar creates a fresh, lively look. Bright Strides, Winter Vibes:

A striking red and white patterned suit-like piece, with dark blue stitching exudes a bold and playful feel. Paired with a long, deep-blue denim coat and white boots for warmth during a New York winter, the look is both stylish and functional. To finish it off, a bright aqua bag adds a pop of color. This outfit seamlessly blends Miami’s bold energy with the practicality needed for a New York winter.

Crimson Canvas:

A rich, monochromatic crimson look features a wine-colored velvet coat with heart-shaped buttons and a fuzzy collar. Paired with a matching short set, red tights, and pointy red heels, this outfit exudes a bold, sophisticated charm. A mini red box purse with a reptile-like texture adds the perfect finishing touch. This striking ensemble combines luxurious textures and a deep color palette for a powerful, head-turning look.

A new chapter in fashion

Art Basel Miami Beach was just the beginning for Aimee. She feels that AI has opened new avenues for her creativity. “It felt like I went to school and learned something new. I can’t get enough of it,” she says, excited by how the tool has enhanced her process.

Looking forward, Aimee is eager to continue using AI to refine her work, especially when styling for different environments. “It feeds my creativity by offering up combinations I may not have thought of and prompts me to think about existing pieces I have and how to give them a whole new look,” she explains, confident that AI will remain an essential assistant for her creative journey.
