The Chi Hack Night is a free, weekly event in Chicago to build, share and learn about civic tech and tools to create, support, or serve public good. Join us every Tuesday from 6-10pm on the 8th floor of the Merchandise Mart to hear from interesting speakers, learn from each other and work on civic projects. Non-techies are very welcome!

Chicago City Data Users Group

Blockchain has been finding more and more use cases in the social impact and civic space. When the requirement is that records be distributed, immutable, and secure, many minds automatically move in the direction of the distributed ledger. Take data on students, for example. Every time you do research that requires looking at student data, permissions are required by the custodians of those records (parents, students, etc.). Come hear from Impact Lab’s Matt Gee on how THRIVE is looking at this approach to support research that in turn is supporting Chicago youth from cradle to career.

TADHack Global, Chicago Location

For the 4th year running, TADHack Global 2017 will be the largest telecom focused hackathon in the world. Last year we had 3000 registrations resulting in 208 impressive hacks being created around the world, with over $75k won in cash. This Fall, the Chicago location on the 7th Floor of the IIT Tower at 35th and State will run over the 23rd – 24th September (Saturday-Sunday), and will be one of 30+ locations running in parallel around the world.

Started in 2016, CTR is unique rock & roll fundraiser. Its sole aim is to DRIVE AWARENESS and RAISE MONEY in support of select non-profit schools and project-based learning programs that are helping prepare a new and diverse generation of technology talent.

2017 Sustain-a-City Celebration

CNT welcomes you to join us at the annual Sustain-a-City Celebration on September 28th, 2017. This unique evening of food and drinks will also feature presentations from the Urban Sustainability Tech Challenge, a collaborative team of entrepreneurs, community members, and technologists working to address a single urban sustainability challenge.
