Another Great Summer With Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Camp — Bay Area

On August 10, Microsoft honored the hard work and dedication of 20 students from the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program with a graduation celebration at our Silicon Valley Campus, sponsored by Microsoft Philanthropies. The students showcased their final projects before receiving their certificates of completion in front of friends and family. Projects included supporting healthy habits, closing the gender and opportunity gaps, as well as designing an accessible game for folks with low or impaired vision. The girls were also surprised with a special “Oprah Moment” when it was announced they could keep the Surface Pro devices they’d been using throughout the program. All in all, it was an incredible night filled with pride and joy.

Special thanks to our Keynote Speaker, Alysha Voigt, Senior Program Manager on the Outlook team, who inspired us all with the story of her experience at Microsoft and words of wisdom for success in the world of high-tech.

Thank you to our speakers, field trip hosts, and coordinators, who helped make this 7-week program a wonderful experience for the summer campers!
