The holiday season is upon us and there’s no better time than now to help make someone else’s holidays a little bit brighter. A group of Bay Area Microsoft employees volunteered their time to help out at the Family Giving Tree’s Annual Wish Drive. It was a busy afternoon full of sorting, packing and wrapping gifts, books and clothing. The donated gifts will be given to 300 agencies across the Bay Area who will then distribute the presents to deserving children in our local communities. Whether it’s giving your time or a monetary donation, there’s no one specific way to give. Here are a few ways to give back to our community during this holiday season and all through the New Year.
– Work with the experts at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation to develop a personalized charitable giving plan that let’s you give to the causes closest to your heart
– Roll up your sleeves and serve a hot meal to those in need at Glide Memorial in San Francisco.
– Do a New Year’s closet purge and donate your gently worn business suits and professional clothing items to Dress for Success.
– Donate can food to those in need of a nutritious meal. Use this interactive map to locate service agencies and shelters accepting food donation across Silicon Valley and the South Bay.
– Are you an animal lover? Give your time to help those with companion animals and volunteer with PAWS to walk dogs, deliver pet food, or take animals to vet appointments.
