It’s Computer Science Education Week! Find out what events are happening locally and how to get involved

Yesterday kicked off the start of Computer Science Education Week. “CSEdWeek”  promotes Computer Science learning for all—students, teachers, parents, and anyone willing to learn how to code. Whether you’re an experienced technologist, hobbyist or self-proclaimed ‘non-techie’ there’s plenty of ways to get involved right here in your community. Find an Hour of Code event at your local Microsoft retail store, volunteer to run a coding workshop, or join us for the Silicon Valley debut screening of Big Dream on the Microsoft campus in Mountain View – all are great ways to get involved and participate in the largest education event in history.

Hour of Code Workshops:IMG_0267

Design. Develop. Deploy. Take part in this year’s global Hour of Code movement during Computer Science Education Week, and go behind the scenes to learn how to build, publish, and bring mobile games to life. Participants will learn how easy it is to code and create immersive customized game environments, and will explore the strategy and creativity involved in designing and developing games. Afterwards, they can even share their final product with friends and family. Event curriculum is designed for ages 8 to 13, and the parent, legal guardian or authorized adult caregiver of every minor participant must remain in the Microsoft store for the duration of the event. Register today to participate in workshops.

Here is a list of all free ‘Hour of Code’ workshops open to the public:
