Bing gets some Klout

I’m an on and off user of Klout but likely now more on as Bing has announced a partnership with the social influence service. It’s all part of the continued effort to bring relevant information to your search results.

Klout joins Facebook, Twitter, foursquare and Quora in the People Who Know section of the Bing sidebar. This means when I ask for restaurant recommendations in Whistler, I’m going to get answers from people who know. It shows up like this

In a blog post on the topic, Derrick Connell noted that this is the first time that Bing is surfacing an outbound signal for influence – an interesting new angle on big data with a lot more potential longer term. Klout in their blog post on the topic notes that like Bing, they’re focused on transforming the web to help make the web much more than just pages and surface insight from people.

Give it a try at Bing.com – make sure you’re logged into Facebook and start searching. Oh and if you haven’t registered your expertise on Klout.com, maybe now is the time!
