Team Gleason: Technology can help bridge the gap as cures are sought for ALS

Tomorrow, the powerful documentary GLEASON about the story of former NFL player Steve Gleason will open in select theaters across the U.S. The film is a raw and moving look at the Gleason family’s life since Steve’s diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig’s disease, back in 2011. Microsoft has had the humbling opportunity to work with Steve, his family and the incredible people at Team Gleason on technology research to help empower people living with ALS, by working to create technology that enables people to communicate and move their wheelchairs using just their eyes.  Read more from Microsoft Chief Accessibility Officer Jenny Lay-Flurrie about this experience and where the technology is headed on the Official Microsoft Blog.
