Seeing AI is now available in Italian

On this year’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we’re taking a virtual trip from Redmond to Rome. Following our recent language support expansion, Seeing AI will now be available in Italian! Harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, Seeing AI is a free app and ongoing research project designed with the blind and low vision community that describes nearby people, text, objects, and more. Since its inception as a 2014 Hackathon project, Seeing AI has helped people all over the world accomplish over 20 million tasks.

At Microsoft, we strive to empower every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. That mission fuels the  Seeing AI team every day and is why we’re so excited to reach more users around the world. In addition to English, French, Dutch, German, Japanese, and Spanish support, we are eager to reach even more people through our Italian expansion. This version also includes improved recognition of Indian rupees, as well as improved text recognition in Browse Photos and when sharing from other apps.

Users are at the core of everything we do, so when it came time to test the Seeing AI Italian experience, we reached out to our colleagues at the Italian Union of the Blind and Partially Sighted (UICI).
