The data behind it is based on the extensive research of Scott Golder and his team in the early 2000s, and Scott discusses how things have changed in the ten years since he conducted his research—including how easy it is for businesses to take advantage of advances in data collection and collation.

Scott is a data scientist and staff sociologist at Context Relevant, whose research into social media is poised to break new ground in what can be learned from analyzing large amounts of data that people provide online.
