Microsoft and NVTC Host Virginia Senate Candidates George Allen and Tim Kaine at Technology Forum

Microsoft and the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC) held a Technology Town Hall Forum featuring Virginia Senate Candidates George Allen and Tim Kaine at our Microsoft Technology Center in Reston, Va., on Thursday. 

Co-sponsored by the Virginia Public Access Project, the Loudon County Chamber of Commerce and the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce, the town hall provided an opportunity for the candidates to lay out their views related to technology and business policy to more than 130 attendees. 

During the Town Hall, Virginia Democratic Senate Candidate Tim Kaine delivered remarks and answered questions regarding his positions on technology policy and business issues. During the forum, Allen and Kaine spoke and answered questions from a panel of technology leaders, including Microsoft Vice President for U.S. Government Affairs Fred Humphries, NVTC Vice Chairman Jim Sheaffer and NVTC TechPac Chairman Dendy Young of McLean Capitol. The event was moderated by NVTC President and CEO Bobbie Kilberg and welcome remarks were provided by Vice President of Microsoft U.S. Public Sector Curt Kolcun.

The event focused on public policy issues important to the technology industry and businesses located in the Northern Virginia corridor. Allen and Kaine outlined their views on a broad range of issues, including U.S. competitiveness, educating the next generation in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), H1-B visas for high-skilled workers and intellectual property, among other issues. Following the panel, each candidate responded to audience questions before delivering concluding remarks.
