Microsoft’s Brad Smith Participates in Digital Town Hall on Jobs and Educating the Next Generation to Compete

Earlier today, Microsoft, in partnership with The Atlantic, held a digital town hall at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. The town hall focused on jobs and how to educate the next generation to compete in the 21st century economy.

Brad Smith, Microsoft’s general counsel and executive vice president of Legal & Corporate Affairs, participated in the town hall, which was moderated by PBS NewsHour Senior Correspondent Judy Woodruff. After the program, Brad took a few moments to discuss the town hall and the Microsoft-commissioned International Youth Foundation report issued earlier today.

During the town hall, Steve Clemons, editor-in-chief of AtlanticLIVE, also moderated a panel on re-thinking higher education in America.

Other town hall speakers included U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan; Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.); Bill Reese, president and CEO of the International Youth Foundation; Kaya Henderson, chancellor of District of Columbia Public Schools; Michael Greenstone, director of The Hamilton Project at the Brookings Institution; Robert Mendenhall, president of Western Governors University; and Amy Rosen, president and CEO of Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.
