Kinect for Windows coming to China

Earlier today, Craig Eisler posted to the Kinect for Windows blog with some important updates for the program – not least that Kinect for Windows is arriving in China on October 8th. That in itself is big news, given the size and potential of that market, but the news doesn’t end there.

Chile, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, and Poland will all get Kinect for Windows later this fall, and on October 8th the SDK will also receive an update. These include:

  • expanded sensor data access — including color camera settings and extended depth data.
  • more tools and samples including a new sample that demonstrates a “best in class” UI based on the Kinect for Windows
  • include support for Windows 8 desktop applications, .NET 4.5, and Visual Studio 2012.

The Kinect train keeps on rollin’ – and there’s way more to come.
