My antivirus software won’t remove malware

Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials (antivirus software from Microsoft) can detect and remove most malware. If you’re running antivirus software and you’re still having trouble removing malware, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure you have automatic updating turned on. This feature ensures that you have the latest security improvements from Microsoft installed on your computer. If you’re using other antivirus software, make sure that it is up to date with the latest malware definitions.
  2. Manually update your security software, reboot your computer, and run a full scan.
  3. Check our malware encyclopedia for known issues with the malware and any additional cleaning instructions.

I have purchased new security software from the Kaspersky Family…I have been trying to explain my decision to change from Microsoft Security Essentials.  Since you will not entertain my presumption that Kaspersky is a better form of protection, I suggest you take Bing on a search for it's web site and learn for yourself like I did.

I started using AVG Cloudcare as it was cheap and I can get Email and SMS Alerts of infections, and remove them from any computer in the world with an internet connection. Not only can I manage My Virus and Malware problems, but there is Content Filtering, and Online cloud file backups.

Most of the time MSE sits there happily displaying that green tick whilst Windows is covered in malware, trojans, IE hijacks and other nasties which disable and compromise data on the clients PC. I deal with this problem a lot! I clean infected machines with a combination of Winpatrol Free, UVK Free, Malwarebytes Free, AdwCleaner Free and Symantec or other free route kit scanner. MSE is completely and utterly ineffective (useless) against most of the common threats today. MSE does not even give basic protection, threat identification and removal.

I have learned that no program can do all things and that's why I have both a malware program and virus for my protection then use a program from Microsoft to guard the back door
