Last night my computer was shut down due to a virus.  At first it said broadband not available due to emergency.  I can't turn on automatic updates in security center, but in automated updates, it says the updates are turned on.  Using the Microsoft automated update tool, it says it has a problem, and ca't update.

I received a telephone call at home person claiming to be calling from Microsoft Operating Systems and had an urgent need to "fix" a virus.  Of course, I couldn't understand a single word they were saying and they got frustrated when I asked for their telephone number…finally got a # 201-620-3170.  Of course, I assummed this was a fraud so I hung up.

I received a telephone call from someone who claimed to be with a company hired by Microsoft to deal with security problems.  He said my computer was infected.  The man had a heavy accept that I identified as East Indian.  He said his name was "Frank Smith" and that his company was "Global Protection…"  or something like that   He wanted me to go to my computer and follow his directions.  I told him I was on my way out of the house.  He said he would call back. Is this man and his company associated with Microsoft?  Thank you.
