Openness partner spotlight: Canonical opens up the cloud with Ubuntu

At next week’s Worldwide Partner Conference, Microsoft will be sharing its “Microsoft + Open Source” booth with Canonical, which will demonstrate the value of using Ubuntu with the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.

Canonical is the commercial support and engineering organization that stands behind Ubuntu, “helping the operating system reach a wider market,” writes Mark Hill, Microsoft vice president for Open Source Sales and Marketing Strategy.

“Their services help governments and businesses around the world with migrations, management and support for their Ubuntu deployments,” he says. “Together with their partners, they ensure that Ubuntu runs reliably on every platform from the PC and the smartphone to the server and, importantly, the cloud.”
