Staff App Pick: Keep your sanity on those long summer road trips with the PBS KIDS Video app

If you plan to take any long summer road trips with the kids this year, then you know what a lifesaver good mobile content can be when all you want is a few minutes of peace and quiet as you and your partner watch the scenery pass by.

I was recently in the hunt for an app that delivers kid-friendly content, but hadn’t had much luck finding anything until I discovered the PBS KIDS Video app for Windows and Windows Phone.

Knowing my kids are watching PBS makes me feel better about the little ones’ screen time. The apps have quality programming like ‘Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.’ Both are entertainment, but they’re also both about learning.

PBS KIDS Video for Windows Phone

PBS KIDS Video features more than 1,000 videos from more than a dozen top PBS KIDS television series, including “Curious George,” “The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That,” “Dinosaur Train,” “SUPER WHY!,” “Peg + Cat,” “Sesame Street” and “Wild Kratts.”

The app provides a safe, child-friendly viewing experience for all ages. Kids can easily browse and watch videos at home, on the road or anywhere with a 3G or Wi-Fi connection.

Every week, the app will introduce your kids to a new “Weekly Pick,” a set of fun educational videos that will engage him or her in reading, science, math and more.

I’m excited that these are the kinds of experiences we’re bringing to our customers and their families. You can find PBS KIDS Video in the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store today.
