Each week, we bring you new app recommendations from our colleagues. This Staff App Pick comes from Chris Bernard, a partner business evangelist in the Developer Platform and Evangelism Group at Microsoft.
Summer is a busy time in my house – lots of activities with my family, lots of travel and lots of people fighting over the TV and all the devices we use to keep in touch and keep ourselves entertained. As a technology nerd I’m always looking for the next great thing that won’t break the bank. Simple.TV for Windows is a great app and service that helps me do that.
Simple.TV is a full-featured DVR that lets me watch, pause and record free, over-the-air HDTV. Using the Simple.TV app, I can turn my Windows device into an on-demand television that follows me wherever I go so I don’t have to miss any of my favorite shows. For me, that’s more than 50 channels covering all the prime time programming and sports I love, plus staples like “Seinfeld,” “Modern Family” and “Family Guy.”
Simple.TV comes with a rich electronic program guide to browse what’s on, and a series recording option so that my favorite shows are ready and waiting for me to watch. I can even record two shows at once while watching another with the Simple.TV dual-tuner DVR model.
An important note for anyone using this app: It won’t work unless you have a Simple.TV DVR (purchased separately) on your home network.
Download Simple.TV from the Windows Store and start a free trial that tells you what shows are available in your area and allows you to easily schedule, search, record, watch, pin and share all of your favorite content on your Windows device.
