The next Microsoft Ventures Accelerator will focus on supporting startups working on the next wave of services in home automation, it was announced Tuesday. The new accelerator, created in partnership with American Family Insurance, will be based on Microsoft’s Redmond campus.
“With advances in sensor technology, cloud services and analytics tools, the homestead is the next frontier for startup innovation,” writes Steve Guggenheimer, Microsoft Chief Evangelist and corporate vice president of Developer Experience & Evangelism, in a blog post. “Combining Microsoft’s deep technical expertise with American Family Insurance industry expertise, we are creating unique opportunities for startups building smarter, safer homes.”
