Nebraska’s Lincoln Electric System moves to the cloud with Orbit, based on Azure

Lincoln Electric System (LES), a utility company that serves more than 114,000 residential customers and 15,000 commercial and industrial customers in Nebraska, has selected Microsoft partner Schneider Electric for field-based asset inspection and management using Orbit as a solution.

“We see this as the wave of the future as utilities large and small have the need to reduce costs, provide intuitive and easy-to-use device field solutions that can be implemented in a fraction of the time of traditional field inspection solutions,” writes Jon C. Arnold in a post on the Microsoft Power and Utilities Blog. “With the Orbit solution based on our cloud platform Azure, LES will begin capturing field data in a matter of days since Orbit is specifically designed to get utilities up and running quickly.”
