Tiago Mello is a very proud Brazilian – especially when it comes to his country’s chances of winning the world’s premier soccer tournament that takes place in his native land.
Upon seeing the news seven years ago that Brazil would host the tournament in 2014, he used Skype to call friends and family to celebrate together. But the first Skype call he made was to an Argentine friend.
“I wanted to be sure to tell him to his face that they had no chance of winning in 2014,” Mello says.
Now, seven years later, Mello is a licensed tour guide living back in Rio de Janeiro and he’s fielding a steady stream of Skype calls from Brazilian friends and family living abroad and his numerous international friends – including a lot of trash talking.
