Updated Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone has Groups tab, faster photo sharing

An update to Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone has begun rolling out, bringing new features and performance improvements to the app. Taking and sharing a photo is much quicker now; you can do it with just one tap, and you don’t have to use a separate camera app.

There’s also a new Groups tab where you can manage and create Groups with your friends, family or work colleagues and have group conversations. You can pin these groups to your Start screen as well for quick access, writes Brandon LeBlanc on the Windows Phone Blog.

You’ll also see better performance from the app. “In the background, Messenger is doing more caching of images (like stickers) for better data consumption,” he says.

You can download Facebook Messenger for free from Windows Phone Store. And to learn more, head over to the Windows Phone Blog.
