Each week, we bring you a new app recommendation from our colleagues. This Staff App Pick comes from Kristen Maraghy, a partner business evangelist in the Developer and Platform Evangelism Group at Microsoft.
My husband and I recently went to Maine with our two boys for a special Mother’s Day getaway. We’d planned a long weekend of bike rides, s’mores by the campfire and swimming, but the forecast had called for several days of rain, so we had to come up with a new plan.
So, I pulled open the Fodor’s Travel app for Windows 8 and began researching things to do in Southern Maine. There were tons of great suggestions, like the Seashore Trolley Museum. I simply clicked on the link and Windows popped open the museum’s website right next to the Fodor’s Travel app. This made it so easy for me to build out our new agenda.
With more trips to Maine, New York City, New Hampshire, the Caribbean and Charleston, South Carolina, we need lots of travel suggestions. I have always trusted Fodor’s quality recommendations and reviews, and it’s great to be able to take advantage of the Windows 8 features in the new app! The live tile pinned to my start screen shows me what’s new at Fodor’s Travel to inspire new ideas, and I even got a jump start on planning our trips for later in the summer. For example, I found some suggestions for dining al fresco in New York. Since we have a lot of friends there, I can use the share charm to post my finds to Facebook to get feedback on everyone’s favorites!
Happy planning and here’s to a great SUNNY summer vacation! Download the Fodor’s Travel app from the Windows Store today!
