Updates to the Bing Maps Apps for Windows 8.1 includes new features and cities

In the past six months feedback has rolled in for the Bing Maps Preview app for Windows 8.1, which debuted in December. That’s led to major updates to that app and Bing Maps.

The new auto-suggest feature provides a personalized experience that helps you get more done. When you type into the search box, Bing displays your past searches for places and addresses as well as places you have already saved as favorites. It also packs in recommendations for popular searches nearby and inline insights using Yelp and TripAdvisor.

Favorite places will now automatically roam and sync with both your Bing Maps apps across your Windows devices. On the soon-to-be-released Windows Phone 8.1 update (U.S.-only), these saved favorites will also show up inside Cortana’s notebook under “Places.”

With this release, it’s even easier to explore cities in 3D. Using the new Explore 3D pane and featured 3D Cities carousel, you can quickly dive into any of 96 cities. And now nine more cities are available, including Richmond, Virginia; Austin, Texas; and Las Vegas, Nevada.
