Toshiba announces 8-inch and 10.1-inch Encore 2 tablets with quad-core Intel Atom processors

Two distinctive tablets, the 8-inch and 10.1-inch Encore 2, have been announced by Toshiba. Both have a Satin Gold chassis and matching slim bezel with rounded edges to make holding the tablets easier. Both also run on a quad-core Intel Atom processor, which provides great performance and speed for mobile gaming, as well as getting work done and navigating Windows 8.1.

There’s also an optional Bluetooth keyboard cover with clickpad. The keyboard is optimized for the 10.1-inch Encore 2, but also works with the 8-inch version. The tablets come with a one-year subscription to Office 365 Personal, giving customers access to full versions of Word, Excel, Power Point, OneNote and Outlook with the ability to work online and offline and sync between devices when connected to OneDrive.

The Encore 2 tablets will be available in the U.S. in early July, starting at $199.99 for the 8-inch model and at $269.99 for the 10.1-inch model. The tablets will reach Europe during the third quarter of 2014.
