An early peek at ‘Evolve,’ which puts four hunters in battle with a player-controlled monster

“Evolve,” from the same team that created the “Left 4 Dead” franchise, is a four-on-one, co-op/competitive shooter that pits four hunters against a player-controlled monster.

The crew at Xbox Wire got a demo of the game, due out Oct. 21. After assembling a team of four class-based characters — Assault, Trapper, Medic, and Support — players must work together to track and take down a monster that’s unlike no other. “Because the beast is controlled by a fifth player, it brings to the battlefield a level of skill, strategy, and unpredictability that an A.I.-directed monster just can’t match,” Xbox Wire reports.
