Each week, we bring you new app recommendations from our colleagues. This week’s Thursday Staff App Pick comes from Tim Adams, a Developer Solution Specialist in Developer & Platform Evangelism at Microsoft.
One of my great passions in life is coaching fast-pitch softball. I have been coaching youth sports for nearly 15 years, and we play at a very competitive level, going to college showcases and elite invitational tournaments.
Athletes are largely visual learners and the Coach’s Eye app for Windows allows me to record, playback and annotate whatever activities I need to break down with the players. For example, our team has been doing defensive skills training with a softball hall of famer. I record segments of our drills and call players over and show them exactly what I am seeing and what needs to be changed or improved.
The visual record is a great training tool for providing immediate and detailed feedback. Frame by frame, I can break down how players move toward the ball, gather it up, position themselves, their throwing motions, release points and more. The different drawing tools within Coach’s Eye allow me to highlight different aspects of the game with sketching tools to clearly communicate my point.
The app is a great tool for working with pitchers and hitters too, where subtle changes can make a significant difference in outcomes.
If you want to help your players take their games to the next level, then check out Coach’s Eye in the Windows Store now.
