The release of Windows 8.1 to our hardware partners on Tuesday includes Windows Embedded 8.1, marking Microsoft’s first simultaneous release of Windows across devices. The innovations in Windows 8.1 will be delivered to industry devices in the areas of enhanced security, deeper lockdown control, expanded peripheral capabilities, better manageability, updated user experience, and improved connectivity and mobility.
On Oct. 18, in tight alignment with Windows 8.1, Windows Embedded will become generally available to our embedded OEM partners to build industry devices for business, “delivering the value and experience customers need, want and expect,” writes Cuong Pham over on the Windows Embedded blog.
