‘Charlie Murder’ splits skulls and dodges suicide-bombing sharks, all with punk-rock style

How to explain the new “Charlie Murder” Xbox Live Arcade game? Take the 80s rocker rivalry of Jem and the Holograms versus the malevolent Misfits, add a punk-rock soundtrack, and give it a dark, post-apocalyptic setting where weapons range from handguns to dismembered limbs.

In the game, which launches today for 800 Microsoft Points as part of Xbox’s Summer of Arcade promotion, hero Charlie and his band must battle rival rockers Gore Quaffer, who unfortunately are practicing sorcerers and necromancers.  You and up to three friends control Charlie and his motley crew of misfit band members to destroy bad guys, such as demons, zombies and suicide-bombing sharks, that appear on screen.

Skulls will be split and butts will be kicked in this homage to the golden age of beat ‘em up arcade brawlers. The game was almost entirely developed by husband-and-wife team James and Michelle Silva (who, along with their two cats, make up Ska Studios).
