In a post for the Windows Experience blog, Amy D pays homage to her dad Mike D (no relation to the Beastie Boy!) by sharing some choice Windows apps for him – just in time for Father’s Day this coming Sunday, June 16. Chances are these apps could be something your pops appreciates, too.
The Best Buy app allows the special father figure in your life to do some research before dropping down his hard-earned cash on the latest tech gadgets and devices. He can shop different brands and the products they carry. Frugal dads (like mine) can even find clearance and/or open-box items at stores closest to them. And if he doesn’t feel like making the trip to the store, he can buy directly through the app.
Next up is the Amazon app, which makes it easy for even the most technically-challenged dad (like mine) to find what he needs, order it and have it shipped lickety-split. They’ve also got a great deals section, which again, may appeal to a lot of bargain-hunting fathers.
For dads who like to keep their offices tidy and organized, Amy has picked the Office Depot app and the Staples app. The former finds stores close by, gives their hours and displays what services they have available. The Office Depot app also gives you current deals. The Staples app has all that, but in addition, it has the Ink & Toner Finder.
Finally, the Yellow Pages app gives dads who remember using the paper versions (before they became a recycling bin staple) a handy substitute. There’s even a “Pizza” section!
Have fun sharing these with the special dad(s) in your life, and let us know other Windows apps they might like!
