Outlook.com is officially launched

Outlook.com (formerly Hotmail) is the newest version of free webmail from Microsoft. More than 60 million people have signed up for it since we released the beta version last summer.

Whether you make the transition from Hotmail to Outlook.com now or wait to be automatically upgraded, you can keep using your existing @hotmail.com, @live.com, or @msn.com address. Or you can get a new @outlook.com address. Get more answers to your general questions about why your Hotmail account was upgraded.

With Outlook.com, you’re in control of your data, and your personal conversations aren’t used for ads. We don’t scan your email content or attachments and we don’t sell this information to advertisers or any other company. You decide whether to connect your account to any social networks, and you’re in control of who you friend or follow.

So if this is true, then why the hell was it necessary to completely revamp your mail service into an inferior design that is all predicated around this social bull?

Anyone out there have a suggestion on a better web email client that doesn't feel the need to make everything pretty at the expense of all functionality?

I have tried using outlook a few times and end up with every tom dick and harry taking control of my system. And that doesn't count every time I try to get help on line I get referred to some company that is very willing to help for a fee. I have a life other than the computer and having to baby sit my system and fend off all this garbage I don't use or want is a pain. So please keep your outlook and all the garbage that goes with it.

I transitioned to Outlook and now I get an error msg saying I have a certificate error. Seems my e-mail account still thinks I'm using hotmail. How do i fix?

Hate Outlook.  Preferred Hotmail.  Not an upgrade; a downgrade in my opinion.  Have gone to Chrome but not

changing my email addresses at the moment.

Good job Microsoft.  I can't get into Hotmail, msn mail, live mail, not Outlook mail.  As usual a change is made before it is ready.  Who know a good free email program.  I'd go to gmail but every time I start using something from google they discontinue it.

It stinks, I've had it about three weeks and  it's not as  good as msn mail was

i now am in new outlook==and-i have lost my address book– i must now refer to another document..word, or just on paper which is external to outlook–and then ctrl-c/ctrl-v the relevant address into the recipient line.

    this is primitive

Bring back Hotmail! This Outlook stuff is not as efficient and I find that writing emails is not the same – it's inferior.
