A few security news stories this week highlighted hacking attack stats on networks and computers; the growing demand for cybersecurity talent; and perspectives on the Cybersecurity Act of 2012. In the New York Times story New Interest in Hacking as Threat to Security the Department of Homeland Security reports that during the five-month period between October 2011 and February 2012, there were 86 reported attacks on computer systems in the United States that control critical infrastructure, factories and databases, compared with 11 over the same period a year before.
