My work with Microsoft takes me all kinds of interesting places, but this month I get to do more “pond hopping” than usual. I’ll be attending the Interop New York conference starting October 3 and the RSA Europe conference in London starting October 11. I’m particularly excited to meet with customers and industry representatives to gauge the pulse of the cloud.
Neither of these events is a “cloud conference” per se, but both now focus significant attention on cloud topics. At Interop, the cloud track offers a deep-dive intro to cloud, invites debate about the merits of private clouds and investigates how IT will evolve in a world of clouds, apps and devices. The cloud focus at RSA Europe is – understandably – on security: how the cloud changes security paradigms, whether CISOs and cloud providers can get along, the many thoughts on achieving security compliance in the cloud, etc.
I’m looking forward to exploring the business challenges IT professionals bring to the event. In particular, I’m eager to gauge their sentiment toward the cloud and their willingness to trust cloud providers to support their business-critical functions. My colleague Adrienne Hall will be speaking on exactly these topics in her RSA Europe keynote, by the way, on Tuesday, October 11:
My colleagues and I will be recording our impressions in this blog as both events unfold.
