Introducing Civic Chat: Networking our Neighborhoods — Emilia DiMenco, CEO of Women's Business Development Center

I am thrilled to announce and introduce you to my new video interview series called “Civic Chat: Networking our Neighborhoods” on MeetAdvisors.com. As we all know, Chicago is a City of neighborhoods—77 of them! That is the beauty… and the complexity of Chicago. All over this city, people are working to improve our neighborhoods and build a better life for their families. And we want to help get the word out about the great initiatives that are happening. Each of us is an important leader in theCivic and Innovation conversations in Chicago. And Microsoft is looking at many ways to use unique media outlets for our leaders in Chicago to tell their story. I believe this program will be a great venue for us to share exceptional stories about the creativity and passion in Chicago neighborhoods, all in a matter of minutes.

About the Show: As Chicago’s status as a civic technology hub grows, one area of concern and candid conversation is the need to expand the Civic Tech movement beyond the Loop, enabling all of Chicago’s citizens to grow their skills in technology and participative government. Civic Chat will focus on organizations and individuals who are making a huge difference and helping to Network our Neighborhoods.

We have a great early lineup with guests from organizations as diverse as the Women’s Business Development Center, Erie Neighborhood House, mRelief, and the Chicago Innovation Exchange. We will focus on great ideas for veterans with our friends from The Bunker and Code Platoon. We’ll get the inside scoop on the United Way’s LIVE United program and learn about “social enterprises” from Impact Engine. And this is just the start.

I’m pleased to kick off the series with a feature on Emilia DiMenco, CEO of Women’s Business Development Center. She is a leader in women’s business and innovation and we are beyond thrilled to have her lead the charge in our Civic Chat. You can watch the video below or on MeetAdvisors.com.

I’d love to hear your feedback on this approach, and would love to know if you are personally interested in telling your story, or if you know of a great organization or people making a difference. No scripts, no speech — just you and me chatting for about five minutes about your organization, why what you do is important for Chicago, and ways to improve our neighborhoods. It’s that easy!
