Skype for Windows 8.1 is a multitasker’s nirvana

If you often watch TV while keeping one eye on your phone for incoming emails, or while playing a game on your tablet, you’ll like Skype for Windows 8.1, available now.

Skype for Windows 8.1, which will work on any Windows 8.1 device, lets you multitask while keeping a Skype chat going, without missing a beat – or a moment.

“Close to half of tablet owners juggle between checking their email, shopping online, and browsing their favorite social networks and websites,” writes Aga Guzik, Skype’s head of desktop product marketing, on Skype’s Big Blog. “So it’s no surprise that Skype for Windows 8.1 was shaped for incredible productivity. Now you can multitask faster and easier, while enjoying the flexibility to be engaged with your content and your conversation simultaneously.”

As Guzik wrote recently, in Windows 8.1, Skype “will automatically move to the side when you select any link in Skype or shared item, enabling you to do more while you chat. You can also snap Skype and adjust the size of the window, so whether you’re watching a show, listening to music, playing a game together or co-editing a document, you can do more while staying connected to those that matter to you.”

You don’t have to multitask; that option is there for you if you want it. Guzik writes that Skype for Windows 8.1 was built “with the socially-connected generation in mind, so no message is ever missed.”
